Keely Joy Photography is based out of the stellar city of Minneapolis, MN, but my weddings and portrait work have taken me across the globe into several parts of Europe and the UK, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, and to various other destinations throughout the United States. After photographing 100+ weddings in the past three years since I began my business in 2009, deciding whether it is people or photography that I love more is a consistent battle for the win. The art of using both natural and external light, and conceptualizing an image in a new location with fresh perspective will never grow dull; but there happens to be something EXTREMELY profound about capturing an emotion, an interaction between two people, and a STORY of someone’s life in a set of photos. Whether it is an engagement session or wedding, a goofy, light-hearted moment or a more intimate, engaging interaction, my absolute favorite moments are when you look back at your photos and say, “that is SO US!” or “We ALWAYS do that – its just perfect.”

Most people refer to my style as a unique blend of classic and photojournalistic, one that captures the essence and emotion in your day without neglecting those traditional shots that every couple wants to see on their wedding day – the dress, the details, and that first kiss on the altar. I firmly believe that working with someone you know and trust to execute the planning and details of your day, someone who makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera AND takes amazing photos is going to make all the difference in your wedding day photos.
